Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) is a safety-science company that – for the past 100+ years – has had a strong focus on home and workplace safety. The new Transaction Security division of UL extends this safety mission from ‘safety in the physical world’ to ‘security in digital the digital world’. UL Transaction Security focusses on securing large, mission critical digital transaction infrastructures such as payment networks, ticketing infrastructures, and mobile commerce environments.
The Transaction Security team in Singapore serves to offer certification services for (new) cards, terminals and hosts in the payment industry. Since this market is moving and growing rapidly, Transaction Security– as a customer focused company – needs to constantly move along with and adapt to the market.
Currently UL Transaction Security is hiring a Cryptography Security Analyst for our office in Singapore. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for developing and maintaining the internal expertise in cryptography and more particularly in the security of algorithms executed on embedded systems.
This will include the analysis of cryptographic codes embedded in products under evaluation, the development and the realisation of high level of cryptographic side-channel attacks, and the support and the training of engineers for evaluation projects.The position includes the representation of the company in industry forums and the management of complex projects. The Cryptography Security Analyst should have a flexible and an innovative approach.
For the global Common Criteria team, UL’s identity management and security (IMS) Division is looking for a Senior Common Criteria Specialist in Leiden, the Netherlands.
UL’s team of Common Criteria specialists work closely together performing high assurance evaluations. We have a strong focus on Smart Cards and Secure Elements, payment terminals, HSM, tachograph vehicle units.
The successful candidate for this position is expected to take responsibility for performing Common Criteria security evaluation tasks on our customers’ products – from Security Target, design documents and code review through to vulnerability analysis, test planning and interpretation of results. The evaluation tasks are mainly carried out on embedded products, particularly payment devices, such as smart cards, POS terminals and mobile payment devices. A formal report has to be prepared for the customer and the certification authority, and the Common Criteria analyst is normally the technical coordinator for the entire project.
Security Analysts are expected to maintain a high level of expertise regarding known threats and to follow technical developments in the embedded security arena that protect transaction applications. They will be particularly experienced in C, Java, assembly languages, OpenPlatform and EMV standards, perhaps with a background in data security and cryptography.
In addition, the Common Criteria Security Analyst role will require someone with demonstrated capability to work creatively, remotely and with minimum supervision. They will have several years of relevant experience in the field of Common Criteria evaluations, and able to take the lead in projects.
