    Technical Project Manager – IMS Division

     

    Basingstoke

     

    UL Identity Management and Security (IMS) is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our small, dedicated engineering team in Basingstoke. As a market leader in secure transaction technologies, UL IMS is responsible for testing and certifying products and technologies linked to EMV (chip technology), contactless (NFC) and Mobile Payments to ensure they comply to technical specifications and test plans and function as expected, before being launched to market.

     

    As the successful Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects, guiding the customer and internal test activities in order to achieve a smoothly running certification process.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages and facilitate all customer interactions and communications during the project implementation.
    • Ensuring quality delivery across all projects lead by team members.
    • Acting as an escalation point for any projects not running as per client expectations. Escalating further as required.
    • Identifying any projects not running to plan and proactively addressing before the client is impacted.
    • Deploy tailored training programs for all key members of the team to ensure their initial and continuous professional development.
    • Participate with other Group Leads and Managers in Professional Services in group-level discussions, meetings, and process improvement projects.
    • Manage multiple projects and support business sales teams when required
    • Identifies, manages and monitors completion of deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
    • Demonstrates understanding of the need to manage risk issues
    • Participates in the application of the risk management process
    • Troubleshoots and resolves complex client issues
    • Stays abreast of enterprise-wide projects and prevents or manages associated conflicts
    • Determines the impact of current/existing technologies on the project and communicates the impact on sponsors and key stakeholders
    • Provides regular and timely reporting of project progress to project team and project sponsors.
    • Addresses incidents of customer dissatisfaction and assists with a timely resolution. This includes utilising escalation paths if necessary and keeping the customer informed.
    • Reports on the overall project cost, quality, and performance.
    • Works with assigned resources and managers to develop and coordinate deliverables and deadlines.
    • Analyses customer business process for improvement and incorporation into the application development.
    • 10-15% travel, both domestic and international 

    Qualifications

    • University Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Embedded Science, Cryptographic, or similar field (Science/Technology/Mathematics)
    • Solid experience as a technical project manager relating to IT Security / Cyber Security projects
    • Understanding of cryptography / experience working in the payment industry
    • Knowledge or understanding of relevant PCI standards
    • Experience leading multiple, concurrent client-facing projects
    • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
    • Strong understanding of project scoping, the definition of customer requirements and how best to communicate these internally
    • Line management qualities, encouraging and supporting the personal development of team members and preparing the team’s skills/knowledge to achieve the business goals effectively
    • An innate sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail
    • Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills as this is a customer-facing role

    Nice to have:

     

    • Pre sales technical experience, familiar guiding the pre sales process by identifying customers technical and business requirements. Supporting business sales teams, account managers and partners on proposal activities
