    Junior Security Engineer – IMS Division, UL

    Basingstoke

    UL Identity Management and Security (IMS) is looking for a Security Engineer to join our small, dedicated engineering team in Basingstoke. As a market leader in secure transaction technologies, UL IMS is responsible for testing and certifying products and technologies linked to EMV (chip technology), contactless (NFC) and Mobile Payments to ensure they comply to technical specifications and test plans and function as expected, before being launched to market.

    To continue the growth and success of our IMS division we are looking to hire a Security Engineer to join our security division. You will be responsible for guiding the customer and performing test activities in order to achieve a smoothly running certification process.

    This is a great opportunity for a newly graduated student or someone interested in becoming a Security specialist willing to learn and grow in a global, corporate company.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for test deliverables and customer satisfaction
    • To undertake chargeable security evaluation tasks, report writing and consulting duties.
    • Reports frequently on the progress of current projects
    • Performs quality control to ensure the highest quality for our customers
    • Contributes to knowledge development across the team by sharing insights through presentation, documentation
    • Maintain/improve your individual technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, obtaining applicable certifications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of the art practices and participating in professional societies and cross-departmental task forces

    Qualifications

    • University Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Embedded Science, Cryptographic, or similar field (Science/Technology/Mathematics)
    • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
    • Should be willing to learn new technical concepts and implement them.
    • An innate sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail
    • Knowledge of programming languages such as C or C++
    • Knowledge or proven ability working with embedded systems
    • Able to work independently and efficiently
    • Excellent communication skills in English. Additional language skills are a plus
    • Self-motivated, proactive and flexible to adapt to different scenarios.
    • Desirable: Understanding of cryptography or experience working in the payment industry
