    UL is seeking a strong leader and team builder with conformity assessment experience to take on the operating manager role to lead its Middle East (ME) region based certification operation that serves UL’s Global Market Access (GMA) business across multiple industries, geographies and business divisions.  In this role it’s critical to understand and facilitate achievement of high performing growth results while ensuring consistent high compliance with regulatory requirements relating to conformity assessment schemes, programs and services.

    Responsibilities

    • Serve as ME conformity assessment schemes’ and/or certification programs’ manager
    • Manage ME-based GMA team and certification operation to ensure/enable:
    • Scheme/program compliance with high quality and consistency
    • Effective and efficient operation/process for excellent customer experience
    • Alignment with UL enterprise governance and global core policies and operating principles
    • Represent UL and work with ME region regulating authorities and cert/accreditation bodies:
    • Participate in relevant committees and share knowledge and learnings
    • Develop and strengthen relationships to advocate and influence per UL strategies
    • Act as ME Access Knowledge Center:
    • Share/communicate upcoming regulatory trends and changes in a timely manner
    • Develop impact analysis and collaborate with business divisions to manage change
    • Lead/facilitate scheme/program expansion strategy and actions for new business/service development
    • Lead/facilitate continuous process improvement for quality, consistency and service level
    • Support engagements and partnership with UL key accounts
    • Work with GMA Senior Director, ME region leaders and UL business stakeholders to develop and implement market access strategies and relevant solutions and service options

    Qualifications

    • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) plus generally 10+ years’ experience.
    • Prior experience and working knowledge in conformity assessment and/or certification schemes/programs
    • Prior experience in people management and leadership roles
    • Native Arabic speaker
    • Open and flexible with demonstrated ability to lead change management journey
    • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
    • Cross-functional and cross-cultural leading and engaging skills and experience
    • Natural orientation for collaboration and teamwork achievement
    • Customer focus mindset and experience in creating successful solutions and results
    • Project management and data analytics skills
    • Execution experience in implementing strategy and tactics
    • Availability to travel occasionally
