    Responsibilities

    Role and Scope

     

    This is an opportunity manage and lead the regulatory team / notified body and to be the most senior decision maker / analyst at the lab for product applications for TCB, FCC/ ISED certifications. You will be performing chargeable work under the Inspection and Certification Body service type. This includes “Notified Body” (EMC Directive and RED), “ISED FCB” and “FCC TCB” services delivered under ISO 17065 and ISO 17020 in accordance with EU and international compliance schemes.

     

    Independently manages execution and timely completion of national or regional regulatory service projects to increase the acceptance of UL’s engineering services by Regulatory Authorities. Assists Regulatory Service Management to develop, implement, and execute strategies position UL as the leading research, testing and certification organization with the regulatory community. Provides detailed regulatory expertise to assist manufacturers and regulatory authorities to resolve product acceptance issues, and resolve potential conflicts between the requirements of standards and regulations. Leads cross functional teams, and special regulatory projects as needed. Represents UL at national and/or international meetings.

     

      

    Job Responsibilities:

     

    • Manage the team of regulatory & certification experts /engineers. This will include setting develop and training opportunities for direct reports and contributing to annual reviews.
    • Serve as technical leader for all relevant certification decisions and provide final certification sign-off
    • Increases acceptance of UL certified products by providing information on the applications for which these products are certified to regulatory authorities, designers, equipment specifiers and installers.
    • Leads guidance and standards development activities as directed to help achieve UL business and public safety related objectives.
    • Identifies new regulatory related business opportunities for UL, and provides analyses and recommendations.
    • Plans, conducts and supervises regulatory related projects of major magnitude and scope.
    • Coordinates complex Regulatory Services activities by developing guidelines, procedures and programs. Provides expert advice in all technical areas of the department and develops business plans.
    • Works with UL staff in other departments to improve the ways in which certification information is presented, in order to enhance UL’s reputation as the premier product certifier in the world.
    • Develops guidance, and resolves high level, complex certification related issues.
    • Provides leadership and technical advice on special projects, and leads cross functional teams on regulatory projects.
    • Represents UL at meetings of outside organizations, and provides presentations on a variety of certification related technical topics.
    • Analysis and assessment of Technical Construction Files (TCF) for the determination of essential test suites according the RED and EMC Directives. Actively contribute to Quality Assurance certifications achievements (ISO 9001, ISO 14001,  by defining procedures for your area of expertise and by providing training courses to employees where necessary.
    • Monitoring the market for trends and developments in wireless technologies,

    Serve as technical leader across the new RED requirements.

    Qualifications

    The senior regulatory analyst Inspection and Certification Body will have a good level of technical expertise and can be trusted with handling complex technical duties and business support activities. Typically qualified with either a minimum of a scientific degree and extensive relevant experience in radio and / or EMC approvals or testing, RF design or similar. They should be able to demonstrate familiarity with the requirements for the specific exhibit types required for product applications for FCC/ ISED certifications. Proficiency in the English language is required for the role.
