    The Software Development Manager manages a service line of UL IMS in Brazil that develops and commercialises technology platforms that help our clients accelerate their time to market. He/she is also responsible for the management of software developers in the analysis, development, and modification of complex software systems programs. Develops and executes software strategies in support of product capabilities. Manages the development and establishment of department standards and procedures. Directs and coordinates system analysis efforts to maintain and upgrade current systems. Manages software and/or product related technology.




    • Oversees all steps of system development life cycles to assure conformance with established standards
    • Interfaces with other departments to establish and analyze product technology needs
    • Provides direction and assistance to complete analysis of software technology projects and programs
    • Develops long and short-range strategic operating plans for the implementation and deployment of software services
    • Monitors and coordinates the installation of new and enhanced systems with user departments
    • Determines the appropriate staffing for assigned software services. Directs the selection and training of personnel within the limits of organization administrative policy
    • Responsible for Service Level Agreements or Operational Level Agreements for assigned software services
    • Manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, and ensuring that all policies are understood and followed
    • Supports UL IMS’s solution development process, from ideation to execution, in collaboration with the other service lines of UL IMS, and with the business development and sales teams
    • Manages and coaches a Technology team in Brazil, which involves: Product Owners, Scrum Master, Developers & QAs
    • Ensures that the Technology team remains a thought leader in the ecosystems that UL IMS serves, both from an application and technology perspective
    • Performs other duties as directed.


    • Education in Information Security, Information Technology, or related field
    • P&L ownership experience, directly responsible for revenue
    • Customer facing experience
    • Able to manage conflicts
    • Knowledge and experience of SAAS-based platforms
    • A pragmatic leader with a balanced focus between technology, people and business
    • Skilled managing software development teams
    • Experience building and developing high performing teams
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in matrixed organisations
    • Ability to establish credibility quickly and effectively, bringing others along through change while developing a culture of teamwork, open communication and feedback, and innovation
    • Fluent in English.
