    Reports to: Global Business Development Director / VP Strategy & Corporate Development

     

    Contract Length: Full Time - Permanent

     

    Location: Europe (Pref: Germany or UK. Other locations considered)

    The Role

    Responsible for developing new business offerings within newly formed Automotive Business at UL. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing the local/regional/global industry trends and while working with sales and technical teams to determine customer needs and develop new and innovating services. Responsible for the overall coordination and development of key business development including working with appropriate stakeholders inside UL and outside UL which includes identifying business demand drivers, specific service offerings, setting targets for establishing service offerings, tracking, coaching, and allocating resources to achieve these objectives. Pursues external funding for product development and special research investigations in accordance with the business plan. Responsible for design and execution of projects.

     

    Job Responsibilities:

     

    • Specifically responsible for EMEA for Automotive business development and business plan execution. Includes working with internal and external stakeholders to get approvals, seek funding, manage project budgets and timelines and project teams from concept to lab opening.

     

    • Facilitates the development and execution of targeted business sectors in key industries within assigned business unit and prioritizes this development based upon size of opportunity, strategic importance and likelihood of success to grow the company’s long-term business relationships with key global and regional customers.

     

    • Meets with officers and senior management to maximize the coordination of objectives, strategies and associated policies and practices.

     

    • Represents the organization in appropriate committees and forums involving specific product categories. Provide external leadership through presentations and technical articles and arranging meetings with executives in key industries

     

    • Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.

     

    • Responsible for the execution and delivery of assigned goals from concept through to go-live.

     

     

    • Performs other duties as directed.

     

    Qualifications

     Desired Skills and Experience

    • Highly successful track record within a strategic business development role at a regional level
    • Experience of developing business including identifying new target markets, brining new services to markets and growing business service portfolios within the region.
    • Understanding of new automotive technologies such connected technologies, e-mobility, autonomous vehicle technologies, 5G and IoT within Automotive
    • Relevant degree within an engineering / technology field.
    • Experience of working cross-functionally and within a matrix structure on a regional level.
    • Experience of having lead regional business development programs at a strategic and operational level.
    • Extensive understanding of the automotive or automotive technology industries, key organizations within the industry and established contacts.
    • Advanced leadership skills and commercial acumen
