  • Responsibilities

    Independently manages execution and timely completion of market surveillance projects byutilizing technical expertise to resolve complaints about the safety and integrity of UL productcertifications. Provides expert advice in technical areas of all product categories common tomarket surveillance. Responsible for initial review, status review, and final technical review ofall investigatory market surveillance projects. Sits on the Technical Review Team (TRT), andprovides leadership, technical advice and counsel to other professionals.

     

    • Independently handles complex or high priority investigations, including determining root cause, and appropriate corrective action(s).
    • Leads investigations that help determine if products are manufactured in a manner that complies with UL safety requirements.
    • Communicates with cross-functional departments to resolve defects in product certification and inspection processes.
    • Provides technical expertise, and reviews investigations to ensure they are accurate, consistent, and complete.
    • Document PIR investigation information in the Market Surveillance database in order to identify trends, and extract and interpret information as needed for investigations.
    • Provides guidance in resolving technical questions involving engineering issues, requirements, and UL Standards for Safety for investigations.
    • Determines reason for non-compliance or failure of UL certified products, and provides interpretation, recommendations, and guidance on an appropriate resolution.
    • Performs other duties as directed.

    Qualifications

    University Degree (Equivalent to a Bachelors degree) in Engineering, or Engineering Technology, from an accredited program plus eight years directly related work experience.

    Demonstrated ability to resolve sensitive internal and external situations.

    Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to UL.

    Detailed knowledge of factory production and Follow-up test programs and procedures.

    Ability to extract and interpret data, and compose complex reports. Ability to identify and manage priorities as demonstrated by the ability to establish, track, and meet schedules for multiple projects while maintaining project quality.

    Ability to present standard information, and respond to questions from individuals or small groups of internal or external clients.
