  • Overview

    We are looking for a high caliber Assistant General Counsel in our China office. The successful incumbent is responsible for drafting, negotiating and revising contracts or other legal documents in order to avoid or resolve litigation. He/she needs to demonstrate a high level of experience in litigation matters and represent the corporate at depositions, hearings and trials. He/she will provide corporate legal counseling to the stakeholders across the Greater China region.

    The successful incumbent will report directly to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer and the Greater China General Manager and be responsible for the following,


    • Provides legal counsel across Greater China region on contract management, represent the corporation in the litigation process including depositions, hearings, trials and defends, negotiate settlements to avoid and resolve litigation;
    • Working closely with the management to recommend and drive strategy for prosecution or defense in litigation and maintains an awareness of proposed and existing legislation and evolving trends in local, national and international statutes and laws to provide the corporation with appropriate counseling and assist in compliance with laws and statutes;
    • Assesses the likelihood and magnitude of risk in antitrust, commercial, product liability and employee and general corporate areas and prepares recommendations to reduce the liability exposure of the corporation;  
    • Reviews internal manuals, public statements, and contracts from a legal standpoint.  Conducts legal research by studying proposed and existing laws and statutes to ensure compliance with such laws;
    • Prepare contracts, agreements, correspondence, memoranda or briefs, appellate briefs, motions and pleadings. Provides recommendations for corrective action when areas of non-compliance with local, national and international statutes and laws are brought to the attention of the Legal Department;
    • Maintains information essential to the function such as local, national and international statutes and laws, cases in litigation, contracts, leases, internal manuals and documents.


    • Degree holder, law degree, Bar membership in good standing, with a minimum of five years with a law firm and 2 years in a corporate environment;
    • Working knowledge in negotiating contract and represent the Company in order to resolve or avoid litigation;
    • A self-starter who works well independently as well as in a team environment;
    • Demonstrated ability to make sound and timely decisions;
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
